Head of Social Services

The Stiftung Alterswohnungen der Stadt Zürich SAW currently operates 36 settlements with over 2000 affordable apartments for people aged 60 and over. It supports its tenants with everyday, social and nursing services, thereby enabling a high quality of life into old age. By 2035, the SAW plans to put additional settlements with around 1000 additional apartments into operation. These should optimally meet the requirements of the target group and create a basis for positive neighborly coexistence. More about the SAW at www.wohnenab60.ch. As of 1 October 2026 or by arrangement, we are looking for a qualified and communicative personality for this newly created position Head of Social Services 80-100 % Tasks • You will build up the new Social Services department, create efficient structures and processes for this purpose, and clarify the deployment of your employees' resources. • You will position the department strategically both internally and externally, taking into account the objectives of the organization. • You will ensure demand- and need-oriented social work and socio-cultural support for the tenants of the SAW and, to this end, identify any need for further development and professionalization of the services offered. • You will ensure the demand-oriented and effective promotion of coexistence in the SAW elderly and multi-generational settlements. • You will work interdisciplinary with the other areas and departments of the SAW and network with external stakeholders beyond the organizational boundaries. Profile • Completed Master's degree in the field of Social Work, Social Management, Community Work or comparable qualification. Further training in elderly care is an advantage. • Several years of professional experience in a social, housing-related or community-oriented context as well as proven leadership experience. • Open, innovation-loving, solution- and team-oriented personality with high initiative. • Strong analytical and conceptual skills as well as very good expression in the German language, both spoken and written. • Resilience and ability to make decisions and assert oneself.
