The Federal Security Service (FSS) of fedpol develops threat assessments and security devices and protects members of the Federal Assembly, employees of the Confederation, and persons to be protected by virtue of international law. It is responsible for the protection of civilian buildings of the Confederation as well as the diplomatic and consular representations of foreign states in Switzerland. The FSS also guarantees the training and employment of security guards in civil aviation. The Deployments, Training and Planning division develops bases and plans the activities of the operational sectors of the FSS and manages the Confederation's hearing center. It directs the competence center for security police training and guarantees security in the buildings of Parliament, during meetings of the Federal Council, and at the fedpol headquarters. It is also responsible for the recruitment, training, and deployment of security personnel on board Swiss aircraft in international air traffic.
