Type of offer: Master thesis Problem statement ## For evaluating the sustainability of agricultural enterprises, a variety of tools with different focuses exist. The goal of this work is to provide an overview of these instruments, describe their characteristics and compare them systematically. Results: • Overview of relevant tools for sustainability assessment of agricultural enterprises • Systematic comparison based on criteria • Toolbox to support practice and consulting Requirements: • Interest in sustainable agriculture and methods for sustainability assessment • Willingness to conduct literature research and interviews • The work should flow into an ongoing project. Therefore, full-time work is desired. Competence gain: • Value-oriented and systemic thinking • Literature analysis and application of qualitative methods • Preparation of results for practitioners Getting to know the work in a project / at FiBL, Department of Agricultural and Food Systems and ZHAW Procedure / method ## You research relevant sustainability tools for agricultural enterprises (in Switzerland and neighboring countries). Based on defined criteria, which were developed in a workshop with practitioners (according to de Olde et al., 2017), you systematically compare the tools using internet and literature research, document analysis and interviews. You have the opportunity to participate in practice workshops in a preliminary project of the BLW and establish contacts. The results of the work should be prepared in a simple toolbox (e.g. website or Excel) and flow into ongoing work at FiBL and ZHAW.
