The Direction des Systèmes d'Information (DSI) is responsible for implementing the digital strategy of EPFL: IT strategy and master plan, digitalization of business processes, security, central infrastructures, core business applications, and coordination with the IT services of the Faculties. As part of the deployment of IA Admin within the Vice-présidence des opérations (VPO), we are looking for a project manager motivated by artificial intelligence, innovation, and the digital transformation of administrative processes. Reporting to the head of the VPO-SI service "in charge of information systems for central services" you will work in close connection with the business units (Central Services), the DSI teams, and those of the VPS, responsible for the deployment of IA Admin at the institutional level. This position is particularly aimed at an early-career individual, a graduate of a higher education institution (university, EPF, or HES), wishing to put their technical skills at the service of concrete, visible, and useful use cases for the institution. Your mission will consist of supporting the identification, prototyping, and implementation of artificial intelligence solutions for administrative processes: understanding user needs, proposing solution paths, and realizing them quickly in the form of mockups, prototypes, or POCs. Once the use cases are validated, you will participate in their development and integration within a secure framework, prioritizing EPFL's internal infrastructure. Main tasks and responsibilities exchanging with business units to understand their processes and needs identifying concrete and high-value-added IA use cases formalizing needs in the form of scoping notes, user stories, or specifications creating mockups and prototypes using AI-assisted coding tools developing solutions and proofs of concept testing the integration of IA models, APIs, automation tools, or RAG-type approaches collaborating with DSI teams to ensure the security, quality, and integration of solutions documenting the implemented solutions, the choices made, and recommendations for evolution Profile University Master's, EPF or HES degree in computer science, engineering, data science, or an equivalent technical field. Initial achievements related to IA, software development, or automation: professional experience, internship, academic project, master's thesis, hackathon, open source contribution, or personal project. Required skills Good knowledge of genAI technologies: LLM, RAG architectures, IA agents, workflow orchestration, prompt engineering Development in Python and integration of solutions based on APIs (LangChain, n8n or equivalents) Ease with rapid prototyping and AI-assisted coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Lovable, Bolt, Replit, -) Use of a versioning tool (Git or equivalent) French C1 and English B2 minimum, both written and oral Sensitivity to application security and access management issues Assets Notions of business analysis: process mapping, requirements engineering, cost-benefit analysis, ROI modeling Agile project management methods (Scrum, Kanban) Sensitivity to regulatory requirements related to IA systems (European AI Act, Swiss LPD, data governance) Personal skills and qualities Excellent ability to communicate with technical, business, and institutional interlocutors Analytical and synthesis skills, ease in popularizing technical subjects, strong user orientation Sense of organization, autonomy, rigor Spirit of initiative, results orientation, and continuous improvement, with a resolutely "hands-on" positioning Ability to evolve in a rapidly changing technological environment and to maintain active monitoring of genAI uses and technologies Respect for confidentiality, security, and data protection Female applications are strongly encouraged We offer The opportunity to contribute concretely to the deployment of artificial intelligence in the administrative processes of EPFL, within an academic, innovative, and multidisciplinary environment.
