Social Worker in Social Counseling (60%)

We are looking for a committed and professionally experienced personality for the period from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2027 as Social Worker in Social Counseling (60%) ## The Schweizerisches Rotes Kreuz (SRK) Kanton Zürich fulfills important humanitarian tasks locally in the areas of everyday support, education, and migration/social integration. Social counseling is part of the Migration area and is a low-threshold contact and triage point for people throughout the Canton of Zürich. It complements existing offers on a subsidiary basis and works closely with authorities and specialist agencies. The aim is to empower people in challenging life situations and to develop sustainable perspectives together.  In your role, you will advise people seeking advice on complex social issues and develop sustainable solutions together with them. You will operate in a demanding environment that requires professional competence, personal responsibility, and the ability to reflect.  This fixed-term position is a maternity cover until 31 August 2027. The assignments take place on fixed working days, namely Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.  What you will achieve with us  • You advise people in difficult life situations on topics such as finances, housing, work, health, family, residence, and social insurance  • Together with those seeking advice, you develop sustainable solutions and strengthen their independence  • You specifically refer to appropriate specialist agencies and support orientation within the help system  • You are independently responsible for structured case management, including documentation and filing applications  • You actively participate in close cooperation with internal and external partner organizations How you will convince us   • Tertiary degree in Social Work (FH/Uni) or an equivalent qualification  • Several years of experience in counseling, ideally in a transcultural context  • Knowledge of social assistance, social insurance, as well as migration and residence law  • Proficient German language skills as well as good foreign language skills (English/French; additional languages in the asylum sector are an advantage)  • Proficiency in using digital work tools (Office 365, case management systems)  • A reflective, responsible, and impartial way of working, as well as a confident demeanor  • Strong communication skills and negotiation skills when dealing with different stakeholder groups  • An independent, pragmatic way of working - even in complex counseling situations  • A professional and reflective handling of closeness and distance in counseling work What we offer you   A fruit basket, a modern working environment, and 6 weeks of vacation?
