HPC Platform Manager and Software Developer

Zürich, Switzerland (and home office) | 80-100% Your contribution <br /> • Ensure the use of the HPC platform (CSCS) for MeteoSchweiz applications and drive its further development together with internal and external partners • Capture and prioritize requirements from operations, research, and development and represent them to the CSCS, as well as coordinate improvements regarding performance, stability, and scalability • Develop components of the numerical weather forecasting systems as well as the associated workflow and data infrastructure and adapt them to new technological requirements • Support and advise scientists in the areas of software development, HPC use, and operations • Ensure the reliable operation of business-critical production systems (including best-effort interventions and third-level support) <br /> What makes you unique <br /> • Master's degree or PhD in the field of computer science, computational science, or a related field • Several years of practical experience in software engineering, preferably with Python and modern software development practices as well as cloud-native architectures • Experience in the operation and further development of high-performance computing environments as well as complex data and software workflows • Ability to capture and prioritize technical requirements of different stakeholders and implement them with internal and external partners • Good knowledge of at least two official languages as well as English <br /> In a nutshell As part of an agile and motivated team, you will take on a key role in the platform management of the CSCS infrastructure for MeteoSchweiz. Together with internal and external partners, you will ensure the reliable and efficient use of the platform, coordinate the requirements of operations and development with the CSCS, and contribute to the further development of the production systems and software components of the numerical weather forecasting. Within the operations team, you will also participate in the operation and monitoring of business-critical production systems.
