AI Expert 80-100%, (w,m,d) With around 2100 Bachelor and Master students, the ZHdK is among the largest and most diverse art universities in Europe. The study and research areas include Art Education, Design, Film, Fine Arts, Music, Dance, Theater, and Transdisciplinarity. Located in the middle of Zurich, the ZHdK is a dynamic place where passionate people from over 75 countries work, study, teach, research, and continue their education. The university includes numerous exhibition and performance venues where the students' project work is shown publicly. — The Information Technology Center (ITZ) of theZHdK consists of approx. 50 different specialists who maintain the IT infrastructure of the ZHdK, manage projects, develop software, and actively provide support. — For the establishment and support of a central, university-wide and strategically prioritized AI service, provided by the IT department for all areas of the ZHdK, we are looking for an engaged personality as AI Expert 80-100%, (w,m,d) starting immediately or by arrangement. Your tasks: As a driving technical force in the AI service team, you will take responsibility for the design, development, and operation of AI services and solutions. Service Design & Consulting: You support the Service Owner with needs and feasibility analysis and translate technical requirements from teaching, research, and administration into technical roadmaps, architecture concepts, and business cases. Platform & Infrastructure Setup: You manage the conception, setup, operation, and provisioning of our central, hybrid AI platform in close cooperation with internal experts and external specialists. Discovery & Exploration: You are technologically at the pulse of the time, anticipate relevant developments in the AI environment, and know how these influence the ZHdK. You adapt new technologies early and transfer them into appropriate, sustainable solutions for our university. Development & Integration (GenAI & Agents): You develop and integrate complex GenAI solutions, RAG architectures, and multi-agent frameworks (e.g., in M365 Copilot Studio, Azure Foundry, OnPrem setup). The connection of tools and data is done elegantly by you via OpenAPI or MCP servers. MLOps & Enterprise Operation: You build automated data pipelines and MLOps operational structures (CI/CD). In doing so, you accompany solutions from the Proof of Concept into stable 24/7 operation and take responsibility for all operational components, including monitoring, performance tuning, as well as backup/restore concepts. Governance, Security & Quality: You develop technical governance and data protection concepts in coordination with our guidelines. In doing so, you create reusable building blocks (blueprints, templates, connector catalogs) and perform security assessments. Coordination & Empowerment: You coordinate external service providers and partners over the entire lifecycle of the applications and ensure the sustainable independence of the internal ITZ team through active know-how transfer. Cost Controlling & Re-billing: You monitor the costs of the AI services and services (cost control) and ensure that the necessary internal billing options (performance billing/chargeback) are present and established. Your profile: You combine deep software and platform engineering with the ability to convey complex technical matters understandably: Education & Experience: Completed studies (Uni/FH) in Computer Science, Data Science, Business Informatics, or a comparable qualification as well as several years of experience in technology consulting, corporate innovation, or engineering – ideally in a structurally complex environment (university, administration). AI & Software Engineering: Proven project experience with AI and GenAI solutions over the entire lifecycle. You program fluently in Python and TypeScript (, React). Architecture & Integration: Sound knowledge of modern API, Auth, and integration patterns (REST, GraphQL, Webhooks, OAuth2, OIDC) as well as in handling MCP servers and agent harnesses. Cloud & Infrastructure: Very good knowledge in at least one large cloud environment (preferably Azure) as well as experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and the integration of On-Premises resources. Microsoft Ecosystem: In-depth knowledge of Microsoft 365, Copilot Studio, and the Power Platform (Power Automate, Dataverse). Communication & Didactics: Outstanding advisory skills and the competence to pass on knowledge to the internal team as a mentor. Fluent communication in German and English.
