The Identity Documents and Central Offices division fulfills the legal mandate of the Confederation in the field of identity documents and weapons and explosives law. Its tasks include high-level supervision and market surveillance, the issuance and development of identity documents and e-ID solutions, as well as the analysis and countering of abuses and forgeries. It includes the two central offices Weapons and Explosives, the sectors Identity Documents (AW), Digital Technology, Standards and Public Key Infrastructure (DSP), Technology, Development and Analysis (TEA), and State Identity Service (SID).
