The Directorate of Police Systems and Identification (PSI) of fedpol ensures the secure operation and further development of central police information systems and databases, is responsible for the national hub for police information exchange and provides identification and forensic services for domestic and foreign partner authorities. The Department of Identities and Central Offices (AZS) enforces the statutory tasks of the Confederation in identity matters as well as in weapons and explosives law. It includes the two central offices for weapons and explosives, the area for identities and E-ID as well as the competence center for security documents and counterfeit money and is responsible for high-level supervision and market monitoring, the issuance and further development of identity and E-ID solutions as well as the analysis and combatting of abuse and forgeries.
