The NDB deals with the early detection and combatting of terrorism, violent extremism, espionage, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their delivery technology, as well as cyberattacks on critical infrastructures. In addition, the NDB procures security policy-relevant information and evaluates it. In this way, it provides decisive contributions for the comprehensive assessment of the threat situation. At the federal level, the NDB primarily serves the Federal Council, the departments, and the military leadership with its products. It also supports the cantons in maintaining internal security and the law enforcement authorities at the federal level.
