Member of the Executive Board (80-100 %) Head of Pets, Animal Shelter and Youth Work Work location: Zürich Start date: By arrangement Zürcher Tierschutz has been committed to animal welfare with passion and expertise for over 165 years. We raise public awareness, rescue, care for, and rehome animals in need, and actively advocate for better legal frameworks. As part of our strategic development, we are expanding our Executive Board and are looking for a strategically minded, operationally experienced, communicative, and team-oriented personality. Your Task In this newly created key position, you will assume overall responsibility for the department of Pets, Animal Shelter and Youth Work. You will lead the specialists, strategically develop the three areas in cooperation with the Executive Board and the Board of Directors, and ensure their successful operational implementation. At the same time, you will represent Zürcher Tierschutz to the media, politics, authorities, and partner organizations, and actively participate in the further development of the overall organization. Your Main Tasks • Membership in the Executive Board and active participation in the leadership and development of Zürcher Tierschutz, in cooperation with the association's Board of Directors. • Strategic and operational leadership of the areas of Pets, Animal Shelter and Youth Work • Personnel leadership, promotion, and development of the directly subordinate managers • Further development of specialist topics, campaigns, and prevention work in the pet sector • Strengthening of the animal shelter with regard to animal welfare, infrastructure, and rehoming • Future-oriented design of youth animal protection and expansion of awareness-raising work • Conception and management of animal welfare and education campaigns in cooperation with Marketing & Communication • Representation of Zürcher Tierschutz to the media as well as maintaining contacts with authorities, politics, and partner organizations • Responsibility for the budget and economic use of resources of the subordinate areas. Your Profile You have a higher education degree (FH/University) or a comparable qualification, as well as several years of leadership experience, ideally in an NGO. You bring sound knowledge in the pet and animal welfare sector, experience in project and campaign work, and a good understanding of Swiss animal welfare law. Strong communication skills, media experience, and political intuition characterize you as much as strong organizational skills and strategic thinking. You communicate with stylistic confidence in German and have good English skills. Personally, you convince through integrity, teamwork, enjoyment of leading a committed team, and a high identification with the values of Zürcher Tierschutz. You maintain a participatory leadership style and promote personal responsibility, trust, and an open feedback culture.
