The control systems section at PSI comprises approximately 35 developers and integrators divided into 6 groups. The section develops and maintains core software tools, APIs and building blocks that enable reliable and robust control systems for some of the most advanced large-scale research facilities in the world. Our control systems are based on the EPICS open-platform toolkit, meeting the demanding challenges of data acquisition and device control in modern accelerator and beamline environments. For the real-time and embedded systems development group, we are looking for a Your tasks • Independent development, implementation and maintenance of control system software, including real-time applications, Linux/EPICS drivers, client applications and user interfaces (UI) • Design and development of low-level operating system (Linux) components, covering kernel customization, configuration, compilation, Linux image creation, device trees, file systems, kernel drivers and libraries • Creation of software support and tools (drivers, U-Boot, Yocto, BSP adaptations, testing and commissioning) for PSI's current and next-generation hardware platforms (cPCI-S, SoC/SoM, UltraScale+, Intel/ARM/PowerPC, etc.) in collaboration with the electronics section and other internal and external specialized groups • Participation in internal initiatives within the control systems section, close collaboration with other groups and active contribution to the development of architectural designs and the global objectives of the section Your profile • Degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), Computer Science or equivalent practical experience • Strong programming skills in C, C++, kernel driver development and low-level software close to the hardware • Extensive experience with real-time applications, Linux, embedded and distributed systems • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work effectively across disciplines and a collaborative and proactive spirit • Very good command of English; knowledge of German is a plus We offer Our institution is based on interdisciplinary, innovative and dynamic collaboration.
