Job Description – Cabin Crane Operator (Tower Crane) Large Construction Site Job Title Cabin Crane Operator Tower Crane (SUVA Category B) Work Location Large construction sites in high-rise, industrial or infrastructure construction with multiple tower cranes operating simultaneously. Purpose of the Function The cabin crane operator is responsible for the safe, precise and efficient operation of a tower crane on complex large construction sites. The activity is carried out in close cooperation with riggers, load handling controllers, signalers, site managers and other crane operators. Particular attention is paid to collision avoidance and safe coordination within crane zones with multiple tower cranes. --- Main Tasks Crane Operation • Independent operation of a tower crane from the crane cabin. • Safe lifting, transportation and positioning of loads. • Precise placement of building materials according to the instructions of the site management. • Operation of all crane functions in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications. • Carrying out lifting work taking into account the load charts. Safety and Occupational Health • Compliance with all SUVA regulations and applicable safety provisions. • Checking the operational readiness of the crane before starting work. • Daily visual inspections of the crane and safety devices. • Immediate reporting of defects, malfunctions or safety-relevant events. • Ensuring compliance with wind limit values and weather regulations. • Active participation in safety instructions and site meetings. Cooperation and Communication • Constant communication with riggers and signalers via radio. • Coordination with other crane operators when operating multiple tower cranes simultaneously. • Compliance with defined swing areas and safety zones. • Supporting a smooth material flow on the construction site. • Collaboration with signalers, foremen and site managers. Large Construction Site-Specific Tasks • Working within overlap and collision areas of multiple cranes. • Compliance with project-specific anti-collision systems. • Observing the established priority and traffic rules for crane movements. • Participation in complex lifting and assembly work. • Ensuring efficient construction progress through forward-thinking work. --- Requirements Profile Technical Requirements Mandatory • Valid Swiss crane operator's license SUVA Category B. • Several years of experience as a cabin crane operator on tower cranes. • Experience on large construction sites with multiple tower cranes operating simultaneously. • Good knowledge of SUVA guidelines and occupational safety regulations. • Experience in handling radio communication and signaling systems. • Knowledge of load tables and load diagrams.
