Bern, Switzerland (and home office) | 80-80% Your contribution <br /> • Drive the development of technical and methodological standards for provenance research in museums and collections of the Confederation and strengthen their implementation at an institutional level • Provide specialist assistance and verify research results in museums and collections • Coordinate collaboration with museums, specialized services, and external experts • Collaborate on the granting of subsidies (standards, calls for tenders, and controlling) • Develop decision-making bases and specialist reports relating to provenance research and submit them to the head of section and the management <br /> What distinguishes you <br /> • University degree in art history, history, ethnology, museology, or a related discipline • Several years of experience in provenance research, particularly in the context of artworks looted during National Socialism • In-depth knowledge of international principles and specialist standards in the field of provenance research • Experience in the development and application of specialist standards and quality assurance processes • Strong analytical and conceptual skills in dealing with complex and sensitive issues • Good active knowledge of two official languages and passive knowledge of a third <br /> In summary You will actively collaborate on the development of provenance research at the federal level, contributing to the development of common standards and consistent practice in museums and collections of the Confederation. The Museums and Collections section of the Federal Office of Culture (FOC) is responsible for the strategic guidance and specialist assistance of the museums and collections of the Confederation. To this end, it develops guidelines and foundations intended for operation, documentation, and mediation within these institutions, contributing to preserving and making accessible the cultural heritage of the Confederation in compliance with ethical and specialist standards. In this context, particular attention is paid to provenance research, i.e., systematic investigations into the origin of cultural property present in federal collections.
