The DDPS General Secretariat is the staff body of the department. It assists the head of the department as a member of the Federal Council and in the management of the department. The DDPS SG develops the political strategy and directives intended for the administrative units, supports and monitors their implementation. It furthermore ensures planning, control and coordination at the departmental level in the cross-sectional areas of personnel, finance, law and IT, but also in the field of security policy or in the field of spatial planning and the environment.
