Global Customs Manager (f/m/d) (100 %)
This position is hybrid, with 4 mandatory days in our Wallisellen offices.
Your responsibilities:
• Be responsible for and continually improve Triumph's global customs governance framework, policies, procedures, and controls, ensuring that the Group's operating model and strategic projects are aligned with applicable customs and trade requirements
• Develop customs as a business service function, supporting business and supply chain decisions with practical customs input while protecting compliance, duty efficiency, and timelines
• Further manage and optimize highly automated customs clearance processes in SAP GTS, including interfaces with brokers, master data quality, tariff classification, customs valuation, origin/preference management, and bonded warehouse movements
• Provide customs leadership for bonded warehouse flows in France and Austria, including stock ownership, transit/import/export processes, warehouse documentation, customs authorizations, and controls
• Monitor changes in customs, trade, origin, export control/sanctions, and related legislation; assess the impact for Triumph and communicate it clearly to the Finance, Tax, Operations, Logistics, IT departments and local management
• Work closely with Operations and warehouse teams in France, Austria, and Asia, as well as in Switzerland/headquarters, to implement regulatory or process changes in working methods, IT systems, documentation, broker configurations, and controls
• Act as the customs lead in Group projects such as warehouse changes, ERP/SAP GTS modifications, business restructurings, divestments/splits, and new cross-border flows, ensuring that customs implications are taken into account from the start
• Lead and coordinate external customs audits, authority inquiries, and voluntary disclosures, including audit strategy, documentation, defense position, and follow-up of corrective actions
• Optimize existing customs processes and develop new ones end-to-end in cooperation with IT, Operations, Tax, and Finance, using SAP GTS, automation, data controls, free trade agreements, and duty optimization opportunities where appropriate
• Be responsible for the global approach to customs classification, valuation, origin, and preferential origin/free trade agreement management, ensuring consistent documentation and defendable positions
• Manage relationships with external customs brokers, freight forwarders, advisors, and customs authorities; define service expectations, key performance indicators, and escalation paths
• Lead a small central customs team and provide functional guidance to operational customs teams in other countries, developing customs expertise across the Group
Your ideal profile:
• More than 10 years of relevant experience in customs and trade compliance in a multinational environment, ideally with strong internal operational exposure and/or a consulting background
• Solid knowledge of EU and Swiss customs law, import/export procedures, customs/bonded warehouses, transit, classification, valuation, origin, and preferential origin rules/free trade agreements
• Experience with SAP GTS or comparable customs/ERP systems, automated customs clearance processes, interfaces with customs brokers, and master data governance is strongly preferred
• English is essential. German and French are a plus
• Experience in the apparel, consumer goods, retail, logistics, or another high-volume international environment would be an advantage
• Strong project management skills and the ability to lead cross-functional implementation topics across IT, Logistics, Finance, Tax, and local operations
• Confident, pragmatic, and convincing personality with the ability to influence senior stakeholders, local teams, external providers, and authorities
• Collaborative leadership style with the ability to work hands-on in a small global team
• Demonstrated ability to translate customs regulations, authority expectations, and internal requirements into business processes and operational controls in the assigned geographic areas
• Comprehensive understanding
