Head of Social Department

The Stiftung Alterswohnungen der Stadt Zürich SAW currently operates 36 settlements with over 2000 affordable apartments for people aged 60 and over. It supports its tenants with practical, social and nursing services, thereby enabling a high quality of life into old age. By 2035, SAW plans to put into operation further settlements with around 1000 additional apartments. These should optimally meet the requirements of the target group and create a basis for positive neighborly coexistence. More about SAW at www.wohnenab60.ch. As of 1 October 2026 or by arrangement, we are looking for a qualified and communicative personality for this newly created position Head of Social Department ## 80-100 % Tasks • You will build up the new Social Department, creating efficient structures and processes for this purpose and clarifying the allocation of your employees' resources. • You will position the department strategically internally and externally, taking into account the objectives of the organization. • You will ensure the demand- and need-oriented social work and socio-cultural support of SAW tenants and, to this end, assess any further development and professionalization needs of the services offered. • You will ensure the demand-oriented and effective promotion of coexistence in the age and generation settlements of SAW. • You will work interdisciplinary with the other areas and departments of SAW and network with external stakeholders beyond the organizational boundaries. Profile • Completed Master's degree in the field of Social Work, Social Management, Community Work or comparable qualification. Further training in elderly care is an advantage. • Several years of professional experience in a social, housing-related or community-oriented context as well as proven leadership experience. • Open, innovation-friendly, solution- and team-oriented personality with high initiative. • Strong analytical and conceptual skills as well as very good expression in the German language, both written and spoken. • Resilience and the ability to make decisions and assert oneself.
