The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) is the federal competence center for all core issues of economic and labor market policy and belongs to the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (WBF). It promotes international market opening for goods, services and investments. To reduce poverty, SECO is engaged in economic development cooperation. It plans economic and trade policy measures in favor of developing countries, Eastern European and Central Asian countries as well as the new member states of the European Union (EU).
