L-ARBES is the sheltered workshop of the PDGR and offers protected jobs in its nursery for people with psychosocial disabilities. As a gardener in plant production, you ensure that gardens, living spaces, and habitats become colorful. Your tasks include sowing, multiplication, and the cultivation of ornamental plants for outdoors and indoors as well as the cultivation and harvesting of vegetables. The work takes place in a greenhouse or outdoors. Sometimes, plant production gardeners also plant and maintain flower beds and containers. During your apprenticeship, you will learn professional contact with customers as well as management and collaboration with employees with psychosocial disabilities. Key points of your training Your apprenticeship lasts 3 years and takes place across three learning fields: • Compulsory school education takes place one day per week. For this teaching, you attend the commercial vocational school of Wetzikon. • Intercompany courses (CIE) support the success of the apprenticeship by transmitting fundamental and branch-specific skills. • Professional practical training takes place at the ARBES nursery in Coire. We support you if you wish to complete the professional maturity (MP) during your apprenticeship. Inform us of your interest when you apply. During the basic professional training, you have five weeks of vacation per year. Our requirements for you • You like working outdoors and in a team • You have good physical condition and good health • You are interested in plants, biology, and the environment and have a good sense of observation • You are mentally and physically agile • You have a good eye for colors and shapes • You are a curious and friendly personality in contact with customers Perspectives after your apprenticeship After completing your apprenticeship, you work as a gardener in plant production in this profession or you follow a shortened basic training as a gardener in another specialty, such as a florist or in one of the basic trainings in the agricultural field such as a fruit specialist, market gardener. Another possibility is offered to you by the federal professional examinations for head gardener or tree care specialist. The specialized higher vocational school offers you the possibility to continue your training to become a higher technical college (ES) certified technician or a higher technical college (ES) certified construction site manager with a specialization in outdoor landscaping. At the university of applied sciences, you can obtain a Bachelor of Science (HES) in environmental engineering and landscape architecture. Selection procedure After reviewing your application, you will be informed of the selection decision. If you are preselected, the training manager organizes an application interview and selection days. These days give you an insight into professional daily life and allow us to get to know each other better. The selection days are organized by us and take place at the ARBES nursery in Coire. The admission decision is made by at least two people, generally the training manager and the head of ARBES. Your advantages at a glance We offer you professional training adapted to your needs. At PDGR, we in principle conduct all apprenticeships at the Federal Certificate of Capacity (CFC) level. A training for the Federal Vocational Training Certificate (CFP) is possible depending on conditions and in certain trades after agreement with the training department. We support you if you wish to complete the professional maturity (MP) during your apprenticeship. Inform us of your interest when you apply. As a high-performance athlete, we allow you, after agreement with the Office of Vocational Training and your sports association / club, special apprenticeship conditions to create an ideal combination between professional training and high-performance sport.
