This can involve both crises without pre-existing mental illness as well as crisis-like exacerbations of existing mental disorders. In crisis intervention, the focus of action is the crisis, its triggers, and coping with the currently difficult situation. Crisis intervention is neither diagnosis-specific nor tied to a specific psychotherapy method. The stay in the crisis intervention center is time-limited. The tasks are very diverse and are oriented towards the individual and needs-oriented treatment of the patients.
